Who has heard of seeding the micro biome? 🙋🏼‍♀️⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

A vital importance for a baby is to seed the micro-biome. That means a baby being born normally as it passes through the mothers vagina picks up micro-organisms which colonise the gut. Up to that point, the baby’s digestive process has gone through the mother. The gut is colonised with micro-organisms from its mother to which it has its mothers immunity. That’s how it naturally builds its immune system. A baby born by caesarean doesn’t have that advantage but there are ways around this. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

A mother can take a swab from the vagina and wipe it around the baby’s face. This should be kept in a sterile place until baby is born. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

If it is a planned c-section, the mother can lye on a blanket in advance and wrap baby in it once born to colonise the baby with the micro organisms. Likewise, for an unplanned c-section, lye on a baby blanket during the operation and wrap baby in it afterwards. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

These are good ways for a mother to own a c-section. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
