Fed is Best

This week is #nationalbreastfeedingweek. Mums and Mums to be, listen up. No matter what you chose to do in the past or what you will choose to do in the future, the most important thing is that you fed/feed with love. For some of you reading this you may feel like you didn’t get that choice and feel deflated that breastfeeding didn’t work out for you but as long as you fed with love, that’s all that counts.

We might not always choose the same path in life and that’s ok. We have hopes and dreams for what we think is the ideal but that may not always be the reality that is meant for us and that’s totally fine!

All of our birth stories will be different and so too will our breastfeeding journey. Some of us will feed for 1 day, others for 1 week, 1 month or even one year. Some of us will get mastitis, some of us won’t. Some of us will bottle feed from day 1, some of us won’t. But we will all love that little baby just the same.

Don’t compare yourself to others. Be grateful for whatever journey or path you are on. Embrace it and be proud of it.

Jazmine and I are 20 months into our breastfeeding journey. Was that what I planned? Not at all. Not for a second but things don’t always go to plan. Some people will say it’s ridiculous, she’s too old for this now and for those who have been following me for a while will know I tried some time ago to stop and guess what we’re still here!!!

I’m happy, she’s happy and that’s all that matters. I try to be the best mum that I can, some days I do better than others but I give it a good go.

Don’t judge, just support.

Whatever your journey was or is, high five ladies. Sending all the love.
