How to use the birth ball

BIRTH BALL BENEFITS ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ 🤰🏼During Pregnancy

✏️ Sitting and rolling with the ball encourages movement and pelvic mobility.

✏️ Helps to prevent and relieve back pain.

✏️ It means using your pelvic floor muscles without noticing and toning these muscles as a result.

✏️ Encourages baby to settle into optimal position for birth. ⠀⠀

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ 🙎🏼‍♀️ During Labour

✏️ Natural swaying on the ball encourages baby to descend.

✏️ Provides perineal support without a lot of pressure.

✏️ Keeps baby aligned in the pelvis.

✏️ The sitting position opens the pelvis.

✏️ Allows partner to massage your back.

✏️ Kneel and lean over the ball can aid an OP baby turn into correct position.

✏️ Moving on the ball helps your breathing flow more easily. ⠀

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ 🤱🏼 After baby is born

✏️ The ball provides support without excessive pressure on the perineum.

✏️ If you breastfeed, it keeps posture correct and gently exercises the mother while nursing.

✏️ Babies like gently bouncing when the person cuddling them is sitting on the ball.

✏️ If you need to wind your baby, you can sit with your baby on your shoulders and gently bounce up and down. This helps your baby’s digestion. ⠀⠀⠀⠀

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ From there, when your baby is a few months old and you are feeling ready, you can use the ball as a way to rebuild your muscle tone.
