I know the idea is probably in the back of your minds for a lot of you, especially as we continue to be in lockdown. I wanted to share the most recent results from The Lancet following a study of around 500,000 home births in countries where home births are well supported, looking at the outcomes from a woman’s perspective. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Here are the results:
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
✨ 40% less likely to need a C-Section
✨ 40% less likely to have a 3rd or 4th degree tear
✨ 50% less likely to have an instrumental birth
✨ 55% less likely to have an episiotomy
✨ 60% less likely to have their labour sped up by an oxytocin drip
✨ 70% less likely to have an epidural
✨ 75% less likely to have an infection
