Tummy Time

When should I start? You can introduce tummy time as soon as you give birth as you enjoy skin to skin with your newborn and eventually with baby lying comfortably on the floor. Try and do 60 minutes total throughout the day. Some baby’s really dislike it and Jazmine was one of those. The best thing to do in these situations is to get down on the floor too and introduce distractions like books and toys. As time goes on you will get to know your baby so try to do it at times when they seem to be less fussy and wait a half hour after a feed. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Benefits of tummy time are:⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ 🧸 Strengthening your baby’s neck and shoulder muscles⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ 🧸 Helps prevent flat head which is what Jazmine had⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ 🧸 Visual tracking⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ 🧸 Cognitive development ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ 🧸 Promotes gross motor skills⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ 🧸 Helps your baby to focus⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Remember to always keep an eye on your baby while doing tummy time.
