Y is for Yoga

What is it? What is it’s use during pregnancy? How can it be used in labour?⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Yoga is a therapy recognised in healing stress, improving joint and muscle suppleness and generally improving overall health and well being. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ The breathing techniques that you practise in a yoga class complement the breathing techniques we discuss in hypnobirthing. Your breath is an incredibly powerful tool as you work through each contraction. Actual research has been done that shows that the breathing can be a form of pain relief. With so many changes taking place during pregnancy as your baby grows, it is a wonderful time to slow down and appreciate your baby and the amazing ability of your body. The gentle moving works very well for when you are pregnant, helping with any backache and posture. Regular yoga can increase the suppleness of the pelvic floor, thereby reducing the risk of damage during labour, making labour easier and helps these muscles recover quickly after birth.
